Oct 17th is a day I will never forget. It was a typical beautiful sunny day in San Diego and everything appeared as normal as could be. Hershey went out for his morning walk, we grilled that day and later we went to bed at 10pm as we typically do before a work day. I woke up to a strange feeling in the bed, I knew something was wrong. I turned on the light and it appeared that Hershey was struggling to breath, he was also not able to move. It was very odd that I was able to lift him without any struggle, he could not move anything except his head. We rushed to the nearest VCA. While I drove, my husband was holding him in the back seat. I thought he was taking his last breaths. The VCA took him within 30 minutes. We asked that every test be run, the vet asked us to be prepared for the worst. They asked us to go home while they watched him overnight. We came home around 1am and I started crying thinking that we were going to lose him. We received a phone call early in the morning and all tests had come back normal with no diagnosis but he was still unable to move on his own. We decided that it was best that he be home regardless of what was happening to him. By the time we picked him up they had diagnosed him with FCE (Fibrocartilaginous Embolism- which happens when a piece of cartilage from a disk blocks blood flow to the spinal cord). We were quite fortunate that the vet technician that helped release him had experienced an FCE event with one of her dogs, otherwise we wouldn’t have had a clue what to do. As soon as we came home we began researching FCE and what steps we needed to take immediately to help him heal. Some of the treatment alternatives suggested cold laser and massage which led us to Linda and her services. We reached out to her immediately and she was at our home within two days treating Hershey. Within 4 days he was able to get up but not able to walk on his own. Linda continued to visit us every 2-3 days and at day 11 we were able to take him for a very short walk. I’ve never met someone like Linda before. She is one of the kindest, warmest and giving human beings out there. We were blessed to have found her and continue to be grateful for her services and just herself as an amazing human being. Hershey continues to see Linda, we are now at once a month. Linda is a natural born healer.
